David J. Hein

Fiscal Director, Workforce Board Lehigh Valley | Parkland School Board Director

David J. Hein is seeking re-election to the Parkland School Board, where he has served since 2013. With a background in finance and public service, David brings experience, balance, and a steady voice to district leadership. He serves as Fiscal Director at Workforce Board Lehigh Valley and volunteers on several educational and community boards, including LCTI, LCCC, PSBA, and Parkland C.A.R.E.S. Food Pantry.

David believes the board’s role is to work collaboratively with the superintendent and community to ensure student success, fiscal responsibility, and safe, supportive schools. His priorities include maintaining strong curriculum, supporting excellent teachers, and making smart long-term decisions that protect both educational quality and taxpayer investment.

David approaches each issue by asking one simple question:

“Will this benefit the students?”

He is proud of Parkland’s achievements and is committed to building on that success for all families, regardless of background or political affiliation.

Alyssa Beckwith

Director, Clinical Trial Operations | Parkland Parent

Alyssa Beckwith is a lifelong Lehigh County resident, a parent of a Parkland High School student, and a proud graduate of Allen High School. As Director of Clinical Trial Operations at Johnson & Johnson, Alyssa brings a deep understanding of resource management, collaboration, and outcomes-driven planning.

She believes education is “the great equalizer” and is committed to ensuring that every student has access to opportunities that prepare them for life beyond graduation. Alyssa is running for the Parkland School Board to advocate for safe, inclusive learning environments, strong curriculum, and thoughtful budgeting that reflects the needs of students, teachers, and the broader community.

“I want our teachers to have the resources they need to provide optimal learning environments, and our community to benefit holistically from maintaining high-quality educational institutions.”

Her focus is on student success, teacher support, and a future-ready district that serves all families.

Jon Macklin

Parkland Parent | Community Volunteer

Jon Macklin is a stay-at-home dad with two children at Parkway Manor Elementary and a dedicated volunteer with the school’s PTO. He is running for the Parkland School Board to ensure that every student—regardless of background—has access to a high-quality public education.

Jon brings a clear-eyed, compassionate perspective to board service. He prioritizes social-emotional learning, inclusive and rigorous curriculum, and strategic planning to address overcrowding. As a parent of a child with special needs, Jon understands the value of adequate support services and the role they play in student success.

He believes board decisions must reflect the needs of the whole district, not partisan ideology. His approach is collaborative, respectful, and focused on long-term excellence.

“I am committed to working alongside fellow board members... to ensure that Parkland remains a district where every student is empowered to succeed.”

Jon’s candidacy is rooted in equity, evidence, and an unwavering commitment to students.

Matt Weimann

Public Educator | Parkland Parent

Matt Weimann is a former small business owner who transitioned into education to create meaningful change. For the past 14 years, he’s taught students with diverse needs—those with IEPs, 504s, gifted designations, and emerging language skills. He’s led after-school programs, served on a school tech committee, and built strong partnerships between families and schools.

Matt is also a proud Parkland parent. His daughter, born deaf, was fully mainstreamed thanks to Parkland’s early intervention and speech services. Today, she’s thriving at Springhouse Middle School—running cross country and playing cello.

Matt is running for school board to help other families access the opportunities that helped his own. He believes in strong public schools, inclusive practices, and policies rooted in compassion and common sense.

“Teaching is my second career, but public education has proved to be exactly what I hoped it would be—a chance to serve and give back to my community.”
